Many of the identifying structures have been retained, straying where VIS & gameplay required. Photographs were used as the basis of many textures. The structure is fairly recognizable and layout is close enough to make a NYC commuter at home here. Due to size and HL World constraints, everything has been scaled down in one way or another. The real place has over a dozen floors, 42 tracks upstairs, 26 tracks downstairs, a mall, accesses to subway lines, gym and tennis courts, a hotel & office buildings. All three dimensions were scaled down. Multiple tracks were combined into one, rows of stores eliminated, floors removed. Despite the scale down, it is still has large open areas with tighter areas at every level. The full terminal complex could not fit within a single BSP in a previous revision. This version, has all of the above ground and public/commercial spaces. The train tracks will only be included if space permits. ================================================================ TESTING INFO ================================================================ Some open areas will be affected by high r_speeds. While every attempt will be made to make speeds appropriate for DM play, certain vantage points take in massive views and players with old(3 yr+) hardware will suffer performance hits. Gauss jumping outside over the building will pretty much guarantee outrageous r_speeds, but the map will be optimized to allow normal movement around the building and across the rooftops. ================================================================ CONSTRUCTION ================================================================ Base : Scratch Editor(s) Used : Worldcraft 2.1, 3.3 Textures : 90-95% original a few from Evile Dick's building1 Compile Date : October 30, 2001 Build Time : 5 days; 53 man hours (for this revision) 4 months (part-time on the first version) Compile Machine : Celeron 500, 288Mb, Windows 98SE Compiler Tools : Zoner's 2.5.3 Compile Time Total : 6h 59m CSG Settings : -wadinclude royalef1 -wadinclude building1 -wadinclude tfc2 -wadinclude evildicke CSG Time : 96 seconds CSG Warnings/Errors : none BSP Settings : -maxnodesize 4096 BSP Time : 235 seconds BSP Warnings/Errors : none VIS Settings : -full VIS Time : 1389 seconds (23 minutes) VIS Warnings/Errors : none Average Leafs Visible : 182 (approximates average r_speeds) (fast VIS was 115 seconds, with 891 A.L.V.)
