.===================================================================== Half-Life Map Spec Sheet ===================================================================== ------General Information-------------------------------------------- Title :DeepBlue Filename :deepblue.bsp Author :Yeshman and Josiwe[DAC] (tmurray@blast.net and pud@blast.net respectively) Description :A secret military installation with a teleportation experiment which has gone terribly wrong Previous Maps :first time!! Suggested Video Card: This map was optimised and looks best on a card utilizing the RivaTNT chipset and using openGL drivers. If a 3dfx card is used some of the ambience we were trying to create may be altered. But for all practical purposes, all cards should work fine. ------Credits and Thanks--------------------------------------------- We'd like to thank wavelenth and the Halflife ERC, plus all the people kind enough to reply on the messageboards we posted to and Lord Dakushna for his g_light prefab. We also wish to thank our parents for buying us spiffy computers to do stuff like this on. ------Play Information----------------------------------------------- Deathmatch : Preferably teamplay. (There are some nifty things you can do that just aren't possible without a buddy to help you out) Single Player : nope, unless you're a little funny in the head Map Description : About 5 years ago the millitary began doing some research involving some alien technology that they found in a crashed alien spacecraft. Upon much study the scientists were able to decipher some elements of the alien technology; among these elements was their teleportation system. The goverment, seeing the obvious usefulness of this discovery, immediately tried to apply it to human biology. Here is where the problem laid. The scientists failed many attempts before they were finaly able to use the technology on humans; however, there was a problem. When the technology was used, the matter of the subject was simultaneously destroyed and then recreated elsewhere. The problem was that because the matter that had originally formed the subject had been destroyed the new matter to reform him needed to come from somewhere. The first two attempts were therefore disastrous, for when the teleportation was performed the reforming process would draw matter from the nearest biological life froms. Several scientists lost their lives. This changed however when the scientists learned that they could focus the area from which the teleportation drew the material. They designed an underground base where they set up their new project. Here they could focus the powerfull drawing force into discrete areas. To test the setup they led disposible criminals into the rooms. Then when performing their teleportations the mass would be removed from these hapless victims. The sudden descrease in their mass would cause implosions of the victims; the surrounding air, volatile with nescessary fumes, would clean up the process with explosions. A grissly affair. The project was disavowed from knowledge and abandoned when someone threatened to blow the whistle. There is a prevalent blue lighting scheme in the complex due to the fact that the teleportations seemed to operate more effectively with colors on that end of the spectrum. Tips and Notes: Note: there is NO egon in this map so don't bend over backwards looking for it. This was strategic as we felt that the egon would dominate the map. Note: The secret area, where the teleportation is actually controlled from, is accessed from a button in the computer room. The secret passage down to where the teleporation is controlled is hidden under a couch in the green carpeted room. Hitting the button in the computer room will move this couch aside temporarily. Put aside all hopes of hitting this button and then running up to the couch. Ain't gonna happen. The only way to access the area is to coordinate with a teammate. If you use the screen by the button it is possible to see a view of the couch, so if one of your teammates run by hit the button to open the couch. Note: for inside the teleport room. To select the area from which to select your reformation mass (in deathmatch terms: which room to anihilate the contents of), you only need to shoot the buttons on the walls of the room. To see what might happen to be in the room first you need only use the screens next to the buttons. One of the buttons affects 2 areas and so has two viewing screens. WARNING: adverse conditions may occur if more than one person is in the teleportation room at the same time. I hope you like sharing limbs and vital organs! WARNING #2: While the screens are nifty in single player and LAN matches, internet delay leaves them slightly lagged, but still functionable. Tip: For an easy access out of the rpg/laser room hit the button and and lasers will deactivate momentarily. Tip #2: There is a button underneath the glass sniping tunnel which will seal it off and eliminate any snipers. It is activated by user proximity, you will not need to hit your use key. The explosion is limited to the glass tunnel, so if you see a sniper up there hit that button and sit back to watch the fun! How Many Players: 2-10 (only play this map with ten people if you are completely insane. But I say the more the merrier!
